  • Cadet Defense Systems has developed India's first Kamikaze drone in collaboration with Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

About Kamikaze Drone

  • It is also known as Loitering Aerial Munitions (LAM) or suicide drone (crashes on target) or switchblade drone.

Features of Drone:

  • It can remain flying over the target area for long periods of time for accurate target identification.
  • Its target engagement capability is quite accurate. It can change its targets mid-flight or even abort the mission.
  • Capable of flying over diverse terrain including deserts, plains and high altitude environments.
  • Ability to remain flying over the target: approximately 12 hours.
  • Flight range: 150km to 300km.

Dubai launches gaming visa

  • Dubai launches an innovative gaming visa under the leadership of Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
  • The visa aims to turn the city into a global gaming hub by attracting 30,000 game developers by 2033.
  • Dubai's Gaming Visa is an ambitious step towards developing a dynamic gaming industry, promising ample opportunities for professionals in the gaming world.

Eligibility

  • The Gaming Visa is designed for game developers, designers, programmers and content creators.
  • Applicants must be at least 25 years of age and must provide documentation including proof of identity, curriculum vitae and evidence of relevant work experience.

Full membership in the United Nations and Palestine

  • The UN General Assembly has overwhelmingly supported Palestine's full membership.
  • The UAE, which chairs the Arab group, proposed full membership for Palestine.
  • This proposal was passed with 143 votes in support and nine votes against and 25 votes being absent.
  • It was initially opposed by key members of the UN Security Council, particularly the United States and Israel.
  • India has voted in favor of Palestine.
  • Currently, Palestine has the status of a non-member observer state.

  • India was the first non-Arab country to recognize the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole and legitimate representative of the Palestinian people in 1974.
  • In 1988, India was one of the first countries to recognize Palestine.

Drishti -10

  • Indian Army will receive the first Hermes-900 Starliner drone on June 18.
  • Hermes-900 Starliner drone is also known as Drishti-10.
  • Drishti-10 drones are delivered by Adani Defense Systems under a contract

About Drishti-10/Hermes-900 Starliner

  • Hermes-900 Starliner is an advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), developed by Elbit Systems
  • Elbit Systems is an Israeli company known for its defense electronics.
  • UAVs are primarily designed for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and communications relay roles.
  • Its wingspan is approximately 15 meters and it can remain in the air for 36 hours while operating at an altitude of more than 30,000 feet.
  • It is an extended version of the earlier Hermes-450 UAV.

Deployment after receipt

  • After delivery, the drone will be deployed at the Army's Bhatinda base in Punjab.

Shakti 2024

  • The joint military exercise Shakti between the Indian and French armies will be conducted from 13 to 26 May 2024 at the Joint Training Node of the Indian Army located at Umroi, Meghalaya.

About Shakti Military Exercise

  • The military exercise between the Indian Army and the French Army is a biennial exercise which started in 2011.
  • This exercise is conducted alternately in India and France.
  • The inaugural ceremony of the 7th edition of Joint Military Exercise Shakti will be attended by French Ambassador to India Thierry Matthau, Brigadier Mayur Shekatkar, Commander of 24 Mountain Brigade, and other civil and military dignitaries.

Its aim:

  • To develop the capabilities of armies for war-like situations
  • To enhance cooperation and interoperability between the two armies
  • Sharing our combat experiences in counter terrorist operations

Typhoid

About Widal Test

  • It helps in detecting typhoid or typhoid fever in human body.
  • This test detects antibodies produced by the body's immune system against the A and H antigens of Salmonella bacteria.

About Typhoid

  • Typhoid fever is caused by Salmonella typhi bacteria.
  • These bacteria are found in the bloodstream and intestinal tract of infected persons.
  • This disease usually spreads through contaminated food or water.
  • Typhoid fever can be prevented by typhoid conjugate vaccine.

  • Recently, UNESCO celebrated the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the “Hague Convention of 1954 for the Protection of Cultural Property during Armed Conflict”.

About Hague Convention

  • It is the first international legal framework dedicated solely to the protection of movable and immovable heritage.
  • It protects cultural property, whether in times of peace or armed conflict.
  • Member countries: There are 135 parties including India.
  • The Convention and its two Protocols (1954 and 1999) were adopted under the auspices of UNESCO.
  • The 1999 Protocol to the Convention provides a list of cultural properties subject to enhanced protection.

National Technology Day

  • India celebrates National Technology Day on 11 May annually to commemorate the successful nuclear test at Pokhran in 1998 and to mark significant achievements in science and technology.
  • The first National Technology Day was celebrated on 11 May 1999 to commemorate the anniversary of the Pokhran nuclear test.

  • The theme of National Technology Day 2024 is “From Schools to Startups: Igniting Young Minds for Innovation.”

1998 Pokhran Nuclear Test

  • India conducted five nuclear tests on 11 and 13 May 1998 in Pokhran, Rajasthan. The code name of this test was Operation Shakti.
  • Four nuclear bombs and one thermonuclear (hydrogen) bomb were successfully tested by India.
  • India had earlier conducted a nuclear test under the code name Smiling Buddha in Pokhran on 18 May 1974.
  • India became the sixth country to possess nuclear weapons, after the United States, Soviet Union, United Kingdom, France and China.

About Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary

  • It is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas in Sonitpur district of Assam.
  • Together with Nameri National Park, it forms part of the Sonitpur Kameng Elephant Reserve.
  • It is an Important Bird Area recognized by BirdLife International.
  • Fauna: Asian elephant, Indian bison, leopard, Indian gaur, sambar, hog deer, sloth bear etc.
  • Vegetation: Evergreen, semi-evergreen and moist deciduous forests.
  • Perennial rivers: Dolsiri, Gabharu, Gelgeli, Belsiri, and Sonai Rupai.
